Prince Harry's surprise appearance on the podcast 'Joe Marler Will See You Now' this week has drawn praise from a royal expert, who says it showcased the very qualities that first attracted Meghan Markle to him in 2016. The episode, released on Monday, featured Harry and his friend JJ Chalmers as surprise guests, discussing topics ranging from the Invictus Games to trauma, exercise, and personal questions about his grooming routine, occupation, and children.
Expert Praises Harry's Natural and Humorous Side
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede, speaking exclusively to The Daily Express, said the appearance was exactly what Prince Harry needed. 'He has so often been seen through the lens of legal battles, family tensions and serious interviews, but here we saw a far more natural, relaxed and genuinely funny side of him,' Ede said. 'It reminded people of the Prince Harry many connected with years ago, someone warm, self-deprecating and able to laugh at himself, which is what Meghan saw in him too.'
While some elements of the conversation were serious, much of it was laced with humour, which Ede believes is beneficial for the duke. The podcast was filmed during Harry's UK trip last week, where he arrived on Monday and stayed until the weekend.
Family Reunion with King Charles
Harry's wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, did not initially travel with him but joined him on Friday for a reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove. The King welcomed Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, to his Gloucestershire residence in the afternoon, following days of speculation. The children last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Queen Camilla, who has a private home near Highgrove, was also among the group.
The meeting is widely seen as a sign of thawing relations between King Charles and Prince Harry, who have been estranged since Harry stepped down from royal duties six years ago. Harry had previously criticised his father, stepmother, brother Prince William, and sister-in-law Kate in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, and autobiography 'Spare'. The exact departure date of the family from the UK remains unknown.
