Prince Harry's recent UK trip may have concluded, but the Duke of Sussex has left a notable impression, according to brand and culture expert Nick Ede. Despite a decline in popularity since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Ede believes Harry's appearance on a podcast filmed during his visit could reverse the trend.
Podcast Appearance Shows Playful Side
On Monday, the latest episode of Joe Marler Will See You Now launched, featuring Harry and his friend JJ Chalmers as surprise guests. The conversation ranged from serious topics like trauma and the Invictus Games to lighthearted moments filled with humour and fun. Ede told the Daily Express exclusively that this portrayal will strengthen Harry's personal brand.
Ede said: “Harry’s appearance with Alison Hammond on ITV's This Morning was hugely popular because audiences saw a Prince Harry who was playful, spontaneous and comfortable in his own skin. This podcast captures that same energy and his personal brand becomes far stronger than people expected.”
Critics and Memorable Moments
Ede acknowledged that critics may focus on certain remarks, such as Harry describing himself as 'Prince of England' or listing 'Duke' as his occupation. However, he argued these moments will not define the interview. “What people are more likely to remember is that he laughed, sang, danced and came across as someone they'd enjoy spending time with,” Ede added.
Public and Private Engagements
The public-facing portion of Harry's UK visit ended over the weekend, with the duke and his family believed to have since returned home. During his stay, Harry conducted both public engagements and private meetings behind closed doors. Notably, he reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla, joined by his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The family-of-four also reportedly visited Harry's uncle Charles Spencer's Althorp Estate, the ancestral home of Harry's mother, the late Princess Diana. It is likely they paid respects at Diana's resting place on the estate during the rumoured visit.
