Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested that Prince Harry may have taken his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, to Princess Diana's grave at Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire during their reported visit to the UK. Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams expressed his belief that the family could have made the trip, though no official confirmation has been provided.
Expert Speculates on Family Visit to Althorp
Fitzwilliams noted that the details of Meghan and the children's time in Britain remain unclear. "We don't know how long Meghan and the children were over," he said. "We assume that they must have visited Althorp and seen Diana's grave." The Duke of Sussex, 41, has previously expressed a desire to take his family to the resting place of his mother, who died in 1997. Meghan, 44, has visited Althorp before, but there has been no public confirmation that Archie, seven, or Lilibet, five, have ever been there.
Harry was reportedly seen leaving the Althorp estate on Saturday ahead of his final UK engagement, where he participated in a goat yoga session with around 200 young people. However, these sightings have not been officially corroborated.
Security Concerns Overshadow Visit
The possibility of Archie and Lilibet traveling to the UK has been complicated by Harry's ongoing concerns about security arrangements. His application for a specific level of protection was rejected by the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC). Harry has stated he will continue to "explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK."
Fitzwilliams described the security dispute as a major issue, saying, "The early part of the trip was a complete mess. The security situation could change. There are threats; he has a stalker, we know. The security issues are very much at the forefront at the moment. The situation is unsatisfactorily unresolved." He added that he had expected Harry to receive the requested security clearance, but it has not yet been granted, though he did not rule out future changes.
Reports of Family Meeting with King Charles
Reports have suggested that Meghan and the children arrived in Britain later in Harry's visit, though their movements have not been publicly confirmed. Separate claims indicated that the family met King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Highgrove, the King's private residence in Gloucestershire. Buckingham Palace has not released any photographs or details of such a meeting, and the Palace has not publicly confirmed those reports.
According to the reports, Archie and Lilibet did not accompany Harry to his London engagements due to security concerns. The duration of the family's stay in the UK has not been confirmed. Fitzwilliams suggested that if the security issue is resolved in the future, Harry might spend more time in Britain with his family, though no changes to current arrangements have been announced.
