Barstool's Portnoy Slams Taylor Swift's 'Showgirl' Album as Overhyped

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has criticised Taylor Swift's new album 'The Life Of A Showgirl', calling it a reflection of her 'showgirl life' with Travis Kelce. In a video posted on social media, Portnoy dismissed the record as overhyped, saying it fails to deliver anything new. He specifically targeted the track 'Opalite', which fans believe references Kelce's birthstone, calling it 'cringeworthy'.

The album, Swift's 12th studio release, dropped in the UK at 5am on Friday, with fans queuing at record stores across the country. It features 12 tracks, including 'Eldest Daughter', where Swift sings about marriage, and 'Actually Romantic', which appears to take a swipe at an unnamed artist. Portnoy's comments come as Swift prepares for a promotional blitz, including appearances on Capital Breakfast and The Graham Norton Show.

Portnoy, known for his outspoken views, said the album is 'nothing special' and accused Swift of using her relationship with Kelce for publicity. 'She's a showgirl now, living the high life with her NFL boyfriend,' he said. 'But the music is just average.' Swift has not responded to Portnoy's remarks, but fans have defended the album, praising its introspective lyrics and production.
