Pizza Hut Brings Back 90s Buffet and Retro Decor in New Jersey
Pizza Hut Brings Back 90s Buffet and Retro Decor in NJ

A Pizza Hut restaurant in Southern New Jersey has seemingly stepped out of the 1990s, offering vintage decor and the chain's beloved all-you-can-eat buffet. Located in Egg Harbor Township, the eatery features classic red and white checkered tablecloths, a Pac-Man arcade machine, and a $9.99 buffet, making patrons feel as though they have entered a time machine.

Retro Remodeling in 2025

According to NJ.com, the pizza place briefly closed its doors in 2025 for a retro remodeling. It reopened at the beginning of 2026 with a vintage design, complete with classic red plastic cups and Tiffany chandeliers. However, the most cherished aspect for Pizza Hut enthusiasts is the buffet priced under $10, available daily from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The all-you-can-eat offering includes pizzas, pasta, breadsticks, and cinnamon sticks.

Franchisee Plans for Nationwide Expansion

PCF Restaurants, an independent franchisee of Pizza Hut Inc. that acquired several locations in 2017, stated, 'We're bringing back all the nostalgic Pizza Hut goodness you remember…one slice at a time.' Tim Sparks, president of Daland Corporation, another independent franchisee, is transforming some of its over 80 pizza shops back to a retro aesthetic. 'Our Classic restaurants are designed to bring back the nostalgic Pizza Hut experience from the 1980s and 1990s,' Sparks told People. His company currently operates 38 classic locations and is evaluating remodeling 12 more.

Positive Customer Response

In an interview with CBS, Sparks noted the positive effect on business: 'People come from two and three hours away, and I'm not making that up. If we can get them in here as a family, they do tend to put their phones down and actually have conversations.' Aside from the food and decor, Pizza Hut has relaunched its BOOK IT! program, which incentivizes kids to read over the summer by offering free pizza for reaching reading goals. According to the LA Times, in 1985, over 7 million children in grades 1 through 6 participated in the program.

Customer Reactions

The rebrand has been well received. One user wrote: 'There's one [retro Pizza Hut] in Virginia with cups and bar and all. I was on vacay and took my son there. We were in our glory! Great father son memory last year!' Another added: 'It's about time. Bring it back the way it was I might actually start going there again.' A third commented: 'I loved Pizza Hut's buffets they were great it would be nice to get them back.'
