Pixie Lott Opens Up About Hectic Family Life and New Projects

Pop sensation Pixie Lott has given an exclusive glimpse into her whirlwind life as a mother of two, revealing how she balances parenting chaos with her thriving career. The singer, 35, welcomed her second son last October, joining older brother Bertie, two, with husband Oliver Cheshire, 37.

Embracing the Chaos of New Motherhood

Life with newborn "Kio" - the nickname the couple uses for their second son while keeping his official name private - has been "non stop" according to Lott. "I've absolutely loved having a newborn again," she shares. "They change so quickly. Even before I spoke to you, he's been learning how to roll! He's so cute."

The Mama Do singer describes heartwarming moments between her sons, noting that Bertie "always looks out for the baby" and brings him little toys. She recalls a poignant video from the night before Kio's birth, capturing their last moments as a family of three before everything changed.

Juggling Career and Parenting

Despite the demands of parenting two young children, Lott has already returned to performing. She recounts a particularly chaotic backstage scene at The London Palladium during Christmas: "Just before going on stage I was getting my make-up done and feeding the baby simultaneously - who had reflux and was throwing up everywhere, while Bertie's running around pulling everything down."

She laughs about the contrast between backstage chaos and her polished on-stage performance, noting that "nobody has any idea of the absolute chaos going on behind the scenes."

Keeping Romance Alive

The couple, who married in 2022, recently managed a date night at London Fashion Week. Lott acknowledges their "pretty irregular" schedules but says they've adapted well. "We can both get jobs at the very last minute, but that's OK, we both understand that. It keeps things exciting as well - like, anything could happen any given week."

She confirms the amusing story of their first date, where she arrived two hours late after a gig. "I was coming back from a gig and my tour manager dropped me off at Marble Arch, where we were meeting. I was like, 'God, it's so late...' But Ollie was still there, waiting. We ended up having a lovely time."

Lott even reveals she wooed Cheshire with a Nando's loyalty card, adding to their charming love story.

New Music and Creative Ventures

The Bromley-born star is putting final touches on new music recorded in Nashville last year, with her mother and Bertie accompanying her. While not strictly country songs, she says she "definitely leaned into the storytelling tradition that country songs are famous for."

One track, teased on social media as Good Wife, explores "the juggle - of being a good wife, mother, sister, friend - trying to do it all." When asked if women can truly "do it all," Lott responds optimistically: "I do. But there's no perfect recipe for what 'all' looks like. It doesn't mean it's going to be neat or perfect, scrap that. But why not give it a go?"

Acting in Dark Thriller Past Life

Lott's latest acting project, the time-twisting thriller Past Life, sees her playing Claira, the pregnant wife of traumatized war reporter Jason. Filming presented unique challenges as Lott was actually pregnant during production, though only she and co-star Aneurin Barnard knew initially.

"It was... strange!" she admits about wearing a prosthetic bump over her real pregnancy. "But I could really draw on the real experience of being pregnant. I was hugging my bump that wasn't real, but there was a real baby underneath it!"

Unlike her smooth first pregnancy, Lott battled severe nausea during filming, often feeling "really ill" but trying to "hold it all together." The Manchester shoot required creative logistics, with her mother staying in a hotel with Bertie while she filmed at various times.

Charity Work and Future Plans

Somehow finding time amidst her busy schedule, Lott has served as an ambassador for the King's Trust for 16-17 years. "I've personally met a lot of the young people that they've helped," she says. "They've completely turned someone's life around that's got off on the wrong foot."

She describes King Charles as "very charming - and passionate about the charity" during their meetings. With the charity celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Lott says she's ready to help if asked: "If they ask me, I'm there!"

Looking ahead, Lott expresses interest in more acting work, particularly "dramas and scripted things" where "music and art is at the helm." While she loved coaching on The Voice Kids ("Oh my God I loved that show so much!"), reality shows like jungle survival programs don't appeal to her creative interests.

Through all the chaos of parenting, performing, filming, and charity work, Lott finds strength in family. "I love that family life, that loyal love and constant of someone always being there has really helped me in the craziness of this business," she reflects. "It makes me feel safe."
