Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) finally accepts the horrifying truth: Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is a pathological liar who attacked her ex-husband Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle). But her hope of escape with Billy may be shattered as Joe's grip tightens.
Billy's Revelation
After being beaten unconscious and suffering a brain bleed, Billy was rushed to hospital. While he was comatose, DS Byrne arrived in the village, and Caleb Miligan (William Ash) pointed the detective toward Joe, who had been tipped off about Billy kissing Dawn. Joe was arrested but released due to lack of physical evidence.
When Billy woke, he gradually regained speech and confirmed to Dawn what she already knew deep down: Joe was the attacker. In tonight's episode, Dawn initially denies the revelation, suggesting the attacker might have been after Caleb or that Billy's memory was affected by medication. But Billy insists he heard Joe's voice.
'He's never gonna change,' Billy insists. 'He's a proven liar. He did this. No-one else. In the end, it's down to who you believe. Him or me.'
Dawn's Confession
Dawn breaks down, admitting she's in love with the Devil. 'I know you wouldn't lie, Billy. Of course I believe you. I'm just so sorry.' She berates herself for not leaving when she had the chance, revealing she had planned to flee weeks ago with the kids but stayed because Joe begged her.
Horrified, Billy insists he can't be without their children. Dawn swears she wouldn't have done that to him. As if to prove her point, she receives a text from Joe, hoping Billy is okay and telling her to come home soon because he loves her so much. Numb, Dawn calls Joe 'pathological'.
Escape Plan
Billy encourages her to leave, but Dawn is certain Joe won't let her go while she's carrying his baby. He'll have a cover story ready to escape charges for assaulting Billy. 'There's no way out,' she despairs.
'Yeah there is,' Billy replies. 'What if we left together? Start again. In another country if we have to. Somewhere he'll never find us.'
Will Dawn run away with Billy and jilt Joe before the wedding? If Joe finds out, the consequences don't bear thinking about.
