Coronation Street: Sarah ends relationship with Kit to save him
Corrie: Sarah splits with Kit to protect him

Sarah Platt makes a heartbreaking decision in Coronation Street next week as she ends her relationship with Kit Green, convinced it’s the only way to stop him throwing his life away for her. With Sarah behind bars awaiting trial for the murder of Theo Silverton, she’s got more than her own future to worry about.

Sarah sacrifices her happiness

While Kit has been doing everything he can to support her, Sarah decides enough is enough and sacrifices her own happiness to protect the man she loves. Despite insisting her feelings haven’t changed, Sarah tells Kit their relationship is over. She makes it clear she still loves him, but can’t stand by and watch him risk his career trying to save her.

Knowing how much he’s already put on the line, Sarah decides the only option is to push him away before things go any further. It’s a devastating blow for Kit, who has stood by Sarah through everything.

Kit turns to vodka

Later, Sarah explains her decision to David Platt during a prison visit, admitting she ended things purely for Kit’s sake. While Sarah tries to convince herself she’s done the right thing, Kit struggles to cope with the heartbreak. Unable to hide how much the split has affected him, he reaches for the vodka and admits Sarah has dumped him.

But while he’s drowning his sorrows, someone else sees an opportunity. Jodie Ramsey is quick to notice Kit’s vulnerable state and wastes no time making her move. Although Kit brushes her off when she first approaches him, Jodie isn’t ready to give up. Catching up with him again on the street, she tells him there’s nothing worse than a broken heart before offering to buy him a pizza.

On the surface it seems like a kind gesture, but viewers know Jodie rarely does anything without an ulterior motive. With Kit emotionally exhausted and struggling to process Sarah’s decision, could he end up playing straight into her hands?

Sarah faces danger in prison

The split comes as Sarah continues to face a difficult time behind bars. Things get off to an unsettling start when a tough-looking inmate fixes her with a chilling stare, immediately leaving Sarah on edge. When Bethany Platt visits her, she’s horrified to find Sarah with a badly bruised face. Despite the obvious injuries, Sarah insists she’s fine and tries to play down what has happened.

Sarah later opens up to fellow inmate Kacey, admitting she’s desperately worried about Harry and grateful that her ex-partner has stepped in to help look after him while she’s in prison. However, she’s stunned when Kacey casually reveals it’s common knowledge inside that her ex is a police officer, leaving Sarah wondering just how much the other inmates know about her life.

Harry's outburst

Meanwhile, Kit throws himself into helping Harry as he tries to keep busy following his split from Sarah. He and Bethany agree it’s best if Harry stays at the flat, while Glenda Shuttleworth offers to take him to Little Big Shotz so Bethany can enjoy a date with Roman. But Harry is still struggling to come to terms with everything that’s happened.

When Kit explains he won’t be able to look after him the following week because he’s booked him into Little Big Shotz for the entire week, Harry completely loses his temper. In an emotional outburst, he throws his dinner across the floor, leaving Kit to pick up the pieces while Bethany is away on her date. Already reeling from losing Sarah, Kit suddenly finds himself juggling heartbreak, childcare and the emotional fallout of Sarah’s imprisonment.

With Sarah convinced ending their relationship is the only way to save Kit from ruining his future, and Jodie seemingly ready to exploit his vulnerability, the question is whether the split really is the end for the couple, or if this latest heartbreak will only bring even more trouble their way.
