Paul Chuckle has pledged to keep performing following the death of his brother Barry, his comedy partner for over 50 years. Barry, 73, died on Sunday after a short illness.
In a tweet, Paul thanked fans for their support, calling it 'the worst feeling ever'. He said: 'But I have to carry on as I know Barry would want me to, having always been so supportive of each other in both work and our personal lives.'
The brothers, known as the Chuckle Brothers, won ITV's Opportunity Knocks in 1967 and New Faces in 1974. They starred in the children's TV show ChuckleVision from 1987 to 2009 and returned to TV earlier this year with Chuckle Time on Channel 5.
Paul revealed he was unaware of the severity of Barry's illness until recently, saying Barry kept it from him to avoid being told to stop working. 'He was a trooper in every sense of the word and right to the end!' Paul said.
Barry's funeral will be held on 17 August at Rotherham United's New York Stadium, where the brothers were honorary life presidents. The family has invited fans to pay their respects outside the stadium during the private ceremony.
