Paul Burrell credits I'm A Celebrity for cancer diagnosis

Former royal butler Paul Burrell has said that appearing on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa saved his life after medical checks for the show led to a prostate cancer diagnosis.

Burrell, who served Princess Diana, was told he had prostate cancer after a pre-show medical flagged raised PSA levels. He returned to the jungle for the all-stars edition alongside Carol Vorderman, Phil Tufnell and Jordan Banjo.

Speaking on Lorraine, Burrell said: 'That show, I'm A Celebrity, literally saved my life. Because I went for the medical [and] they found a raised PSA level.' He added that without the show, he would not have known about the cancer.

Burrell underwent treatment at The Christie Hospital in Manchester, including radium injections and radiotherapy. He described the experience as a 'rollercoaster of emotions' but said he is getting through it.
