Patsy Kensit Reveals Childhood Trauma, Not Failed Marriages, Is Source of Pain

Actress Patsy Kensit has opened up about her deep-seated trauma, clarifying that it stems from her childhood rather than her four failed marriages. The 58-year-old star, known for her roles in films such as Lethal Weapon 2, spoke candidly about her mental health following her appearance on the BBC show Pilgrimage.

Kensit, who has been married four times, including to Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr and Oasis star Liam Gallagher, admitted she had previously attributed her anger to her failed relationships. However, during the pilgrimage, she realised her trauma originated from her early years. 'My trauma isn't about having sons from two failed relationships; this is about my whole life,' she told Country Living.

The actress has two sons: James Kerr, 32, and Lennon Gallagher, 26. She was married to Jim Kerr from 1992 to 1996 and to Liam Gallagher from 1997 to 2000. Her other marriages were to Dan Donovan and Jeremy Healy, with whom she did not have children.

Kensit's childhood was marked by significant hardship. Her mother, Margaret, was diagnosed with breast cancer when Patsy was just five, and although she lived for another 17 years, much of Patsy's early life was overshadowed by the fear of losing her. Her father, James, died of leukaemia when she was 17, and he had spent time in and out of prison, including two stints for long-term fraud when she was six and 11. He was also an associate of the infamous Kray twins.

Reflecting on her time on Pilgrimage, Kensit described the experience as 'incredible' and said it helped quieten her 'noisy mind'. She also spoke fondly of her romance with Liam Gallagher, calling the 1990s 'a magical time'. Her son Lennon recently attended Oasis's tour, which she said was 'fantastic'.
