Sharon Osbourne has revealed the final words her husband Ozzy spoke to her before his death in July. The Black Sabbath frontman, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, died aged 76 at the couple’s home in Buckinghamshire.
In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon recalled their last evening together. “He was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4.30 and he said, ‘Wake up’. I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up’,” she said. “He said, ‘Kiss me’ and ‘Hug me tight’.” Ozzy then worked out for 20 minutes and passed away less than an hour later.
Sharon described finding him and telling paramedics to stop resuscitation efforts. “I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t — just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone’,” she said. “I knew instantly he’d gone.”
Weeks before his death, Ozzy performed at the Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham, despite doctors warning he might not survive. Sharon said he insisted: “I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it.” She added: “He just wanted it so bad to say thank you to everyone.”
Following his death, fans laid flowers at the Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street and hundreds paid respects during a cortege procession on July 30. Reflecting on her grief, Sharon said: “Everything in my life now is like ish … it’s OK, all right. I’m OK. … It’s very weird to me. You know, when you love someone that much and you’re grieving for them, it’s what I have to live with, and I’ll get used to it.”
