Hugh Jackman has reportedly issued a two-word warning to Nicole Kidman – 'stop stirring' – as he grows frustrated with what he sees as her role in turning mutual friends against him following his split from Deborra-Lee Furness. According to sources, the 57-year-old actor believes Kidman, 58, has been encouraging Furness to make thinly-veiled digs at him in the press and quietly alienating him from their social circle.
The tension came to a head at the Met Gala earlier this month, where Kidman reportedly went out of her way to avoid Jackman and his new girlfriend, actress Sutton Foster, 51. Industry insiders say Kidman made it clear she is 'firmly team Deb', a stance that has not sat well with Jackman, who starred alongside Kidman in the 2008 film Australia. 'Hugh was upset that Nicole avoided him at the Met Gala,' a source told heat magazine. 'That was very fishy to him – and then afterwards, he heard through the grapevine that some not very nice things were being said.'
Kidman and Furness, 70, have reportedly grown closer in the wake of their respective splits – Kidman separated from Keith Urban last September, while Furness finalised her divorce from Jackman in May 2025 after 27 years of marriage. The pair are said to have formed a 'first wives' club' that has been a source of mutual support. However, Jackman is convinced that Kidman has been 'winding Deb up behind the scenes', particularly after Furness's recent statement about 'betrayal' – widely interpreted as a reference to Jackman's relationship with Foster, which began after their split.
Jackman and Furness initially appeared amicable when announcing their separation in September 2023, but tensions have escalated since Jackman went public with Foster in January 2025. The couple met while starring in The Music Man on Broadway from 2021 to 2023, and while there was no suggestion of overlap with Jackman's marriage, rumours have persisted. Furness's statement in May, in which she spoke of 'the traumatic journey of betrayal', has only fuelled speculation.
For now, Jackman is said to be 'burning mad' and looking for someone to blame, with Kidman firmly in his sights. 'He thought they were on a good path,' the source added. 'It's come out of nowhere, at least in his view.'
