BBC radio presenter Nicky Campbell has disclosed that his daughter Lilla was left 'badly injured' following a hit-and-run incident involving an e-bike in Peckham. The 65-year-old broadcaster, known for hosting ITV's Long Lost Family alongside Davina McCall, detailed the ordeal in a social media post, describing it as 'a long and emotional night'.
Details of the Incident
Campbell stated that Lilla was struck by an e-bike in a hit-and-run on the evening of the incident. He expressed hope that CCTV footage from the area would help identify the cyclist. 'Her sisters were with her,' he wrote. 'She is badly injured but now at home.'
The presenter, who also hosts a mid-morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live, emphasized that the situation 'could have been so much worse' and that his family had been 'incredibly lucky'. He did not specify the extent of Lilla's injuries but confirmed she was discharged from the hospital.
Additional Incident at Hospital
While at King's College Hospital's A&E department, Campbell said a drunk man entered the trauma room where Lilla, her sisters, and a friend were being treated. 'He exposed himself to them,' Campbell wrote. 'The police were there and he has been arrested. The police were magnificent. I spoke to them when I arrived at 3.15 and he is now in custody.'
Campbell praised the hospital staff, saying: 'We all want to say a massive thank you to our amazing police, the wonderful staff at @kingscollegehospital – nurses and doctors. Calum and the team. From the bottom of our hearts, they were all bloody superb.'
