Mel B Shares Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Daughter Phoenix
Mel B, the former Spice Girl, posted a loving tribute to her daughter Phoenix as she celebrated her 27th birthday on Thursday. The 50-year-old singer shared a sweet throwback photo with her followers, featuring a snap of herself holding Phoenix as a toddler, alongside a heartfelt caption wishing her a happy birthday.
Nostalgic Photos and Emotional Message
In the nostalgic photo, Mel B looked radiant and youthful as she beamed at the camera while hugging Phoenix, who appeared adorable wrapped in a baby blanket. Alongside this throwback, Mel B also shared a photo of herself and her daughter on her wedding day in Morocco, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
Sharing the photos on Instagram, Mel B captioned the post: 'OMG my baby grl is 27 today !!!! Happy birthday Phoenix. I luv you sooooooooo much. Keep being you, you are the most funny beautiful young woman and I’m sooooooo proud of you !!!!!!!! Our love is unconditional baby girl !!!!!'
Celebrity Well-Wishes and Family Background
Following Mel's post, several celebrities flocked to the comment section to wish Phoenix a happy birthday. Former bandmate Emma Bunton wrote: 'Happy birthday @phoenixisphoenix sending lots of ❤️', while Lisa Snowdon and Gaby Roslin also posted love heart emojis in support.
Mel B shares daughter Phoenix with her ex-husband, Jimmy Gulzar. The former couple separated in January 2000, with their divorce finalised in June that year, marking a significant chapter in her personal life.
Spice Girls Reunion Plans Reportedly Axed Amid Tensions
This heartfelt tribute comes amid reports that Spice Girls reunion plans have been axed due to growing tensions within the girl band. Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C, and Geri Halliwell-Horner were set to mark the band's 30th anniversary with a special Netflix project, but insiders claim Geri is hesitant to sign on amid ongoing issues with Mel B.
Scary Spice was notably absent from Emma’s 50th birthday party last month, with the other three members in attendance. Mel B also missed a recent reunion at Victoria's home for a low-key singalong to Viva Forever over dinner, as she was on her honeymoon in Mauritius with husband Rory McPhee.
Production Challenges and Future Prospects
An insider told The Sun: 'Their fans will be devastated. The drama has been in development for years but producers wanted to work in unison with the band. It just hasn’t got to the point where the streamer has felt able to commission it. It doesn’t mean it won’t happen at some point in the future, but a big drive behind making the show was that it aired to celebrate the landmark anniversary. Now all hopes of that happening have been snuffed out.'
Suzanne Mackie, producer of royal drama The Crown, was developing the project, with a script by Jack Rooke, who won a Bafta for Channel 4 comedy Big Boys. A documentary on the band, whose debut single Wannabe was released in June 1996, was also supposed to be in the works with Netflix, but that remains unconfirmed.
Daily Mail contacted Netflix and The Spice Girls representatives for comment, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding these reunion efforts.
