Rumours have emerged that Jessica Mulroney, the former best friend of Meghan Markle, may be planning a tell-all book about the Duchess of Sussex. Reports from the US suggest publishers are offering advances of more than $1 million for the project, though Mulroney has publicly denied any intention to write a memoir.
Mulroney, a Canadian stylist, was once one of Meghan's closest confidantes, introducing her to Toronto's social scene while Meghan was filming Suits. Their friendship remained strong during Meghan's early relationship with Prince Harry, with Mulroney being the first friend Meghan called after the duke proposed. Mulroney's children even served as page boys and a bridesmaid at the royal wedding in 2018.
However, the friendship soured in 2020 after Mulroney was embroiled in a 'white-privilege' scandal involving lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter. The controversy led to Mulroney losing TV gigs and resigning from her charity, while Meghan reportedly ended their friendship. A source told The Mirror: 'Jessica was let down and hurt by false accusations. This could be her chance to set the record straight.' The source added that Mulroney 'has the receipts' and could correct narratives, such as the alleged treatment of Princess Charlotte during a bridesmaid dress fitting.
At the time of the scandal, a friend of Meghan's claimed the Duchess was 'absolutely mortified' and felt Mulroney's handling of the situation was 'tone deaf'. Mulroney issued a public apology, and her husband Ben quit his TV job to support her through the backlash.
