Meghan Markle has reportedly decided to join Prince Harry in the UK for the Invictus Games countdown events but will keep her visit completely private, avoiding public appearances and media attention.
U-Turn on UK Visit
After weeks of speculation over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would bring their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, to the UK, Meghan has chosen to attend but stay out of the spotlight. The decision comes after a dispute over state-funded police protection left Harry to face public events alone.
According to reports, Meghan will not participate in any public engagements, opting instead for private visits, including potentially to Princess Diana's grave at Althorp.
Focus on Invictus Games
The trip is centered on the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Prince Harry's work with wounded and sick military veterans is widely regarded as his most significant contribution. By staying private, Meghan allows the narrative to remain on the Games and the veterans, rather than on her wardrobe or royal drama.
Emily Wright, World News Reporter, commented: "By choosing to stay hidden away in private quarters or visiting Princess Diana’s grave at Althorp out of the camera's eye, she is saving herself from a humiliating public rejection."
Past Controversies
The couple's recent trip to Australia drew criticism when a visit to Bondi Beach to meet survivors of a December 2025 terror attack that killed 15 was overshadowed by promotions of Meghan's designer outfit. Wright noted that the focus shifted away from victims, highlighting the need for Meghan to step back.
A Win-Win Situation
While the U-turn is a reversal from typical spectacle, it may allow King Charles to see his grandchildren in peace and ensure the Invictus Games receive due dignity without a Hollywood sideshow. Wright concluded: "Keep it private, Meghan. For your sake, and for ours."
