Lulu Reveals Maurice Gibb May Have Fathered Secret Son During Their Marriage
Lulu Claims Maurice Gibb Had Secret Son During Their Marriage

Scottish music icon Lulu has made a startling revelation about her late former husband, Bee Gees star Maurice Gibb, suggesting he may have fathered a secret child with another woman during their six-year marriage. The 77-year-old singer disclosed this claim during a candid conversation on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where she also reflected on her subsequent relationships with pop legend David Bowie and celebrity hairstylist John Frieda.

Shocking Allegation of a Hidden Son

Lulu, whose marriage to Gibb officially ended in 1975 without the couple having any children together, told Theroux she had recently discovered what she described as irrefutable proof of this clandestine paternity. "I think he's got a son," she stated. "It might have happened when we were married. I just found out."

Elaborating further, Lulu explained, "Someone showed me something and I can't remember the year he impregnated this girl after a one night stand and he has a son who has had his genes taken. It's proven. He's a hundred percent Maurice’s." Despite her conviction, she admitted she hadn't confirmed the exact birth date of the alleged son, remarking, "because it wasn't that important."

Gibb's Known Family and Legacy

Maurice Gibb, who tragically passed away in 2003 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Miami home, is publicly known to have two children: daughter Samantha and son Adam, from his second marriage to Yvonne Spenceley. This new claim adds a potentially controversial layer to his personal history, contrasting with his established family narrative.

Reflections on Life and Relationships

During the podcast, Lulu also shared broader insights gained from her experiences, emphasizing how age has taught her to maintain a positive perspective. "I think I used to take myself way too seriously," she confessed to Theroux. "And it's painful when you take yourself too seriously or when you see the world black and white because there are many grey areas and I've learned through trial and tribulation."

She added, "You know, I've had unbelievable highs, but I've also had a lot of lows, which most people have in their life. For God's sake, I'm no different to anybody else in that respect. So I've looked at it, I've wanted to know why. I'm always curious and I think that's probably helped me to survive all the ups and the downs in my life."

Post-Divorce Romances and Reunion

Following her divorce from Gibb, Lulu embarked on a relationship with hairstylist John Frieda, which was briefly tested by an affair with David Bowie during the 1970s. "I had a brief relationship with him, we had a fling," she said of Bowie, acknowledging that Frieda "knew, and it was an issue."

In a poignant moment, Lulu reunited with Gibb onstage in 2003, a year before his death, when she invited him to perform on her ITV special, An Audience With Lulu. Recalling the event, she said, "I sort of knew in my heart that he would probably jump and he did. But Maurice was a very sweet guy though. You know I didn't want to use him, but I was using him. You know what, now I'm glad because it touched people's hearts."

She continued, "They saw a vulnerable side in him and I and in our relationship. It was also a chance for me to honour Maurice by himself without his brothers. And now I'm so glad I got to do that. I mean, even his wife, Yvonne Gibb said to Linda Gibb, Barry's wife, it was a good thing. It kind of closed the circle."

Reflecting on the closure it provided, Lulu noted, "You know, sometimes in ending a relationship, you don't say all that you wanted to say or you don't explain yourself, or there's confusion or there's misunderstandings. It seemed to close the circle. He was very pleased because he always felt the lesser of the three. And him being on the show by himself with me, gave him respect, you know, it was respectful."
