Love Island contestant George Knight's departure from the villa has taken a dramatic new twist, with reports suggesting he was removed over alleged offensive language, not solely for private family matters as initially stated.
George Knight's Exit: What Really Happened?
The 27-year-old footballer exited the ITV dating show after just six days on screen. Initially, George claimed he left after producers informed him of a health concern involving a close family member. However, sources now indicate that while the family issue was genuine, it was not the only factor behind his exit.
According to reports from The Sun, George received a formal warning for using what was described as “unacceptable language” inside the villa before ultimately leaving the program. ITV had previously confirmed only that George left for “private reasons” and declined to comment further.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster stated: “We have a duty of care towards George and as such will not be commenting further.”
George's Account of the Departure
Speaking after leaving the villa, George explained how producers unexpectedly called him for a meeting. He said: “I was expecting just to receive a usual question, like ask how I’m doing or what’s the plan for the day. And they just said that one of the producers on site was going to meet me at the front door and that they had some information for you and the execs wanted to see you.”
He continued: “They said that my parents had been in touch and that they had some news for me and that they were going to give me a call. It is all very private. But it was a health concern with a member of the immediate family. They said they felt like they weren’t doing their role as a parent if they didn’t let me know. And with what was said, I just felt like it was the right thing to come home.”
Social Media and Viewer Reactions
Following his exit, George shared a photograph with his sister and their dog on social media with the caption: “Family comes first, always.” He later reiterated that he left for “private family reasons.”
His time in the villa also attracted criticism from some viewers, who questioned comments he made towards fellow Islanders. Responding to the backlash, George said: “I don’t blame everyone because you don’t see everything. You see such a small percentage of all the conversations and the relationships that you build. So I get it. I probably have said things that in reflection don’t look or sound great, but that’s just how I am in the moment. And I know it will shoot me in the foot a few times, but authenticity is what people are drawn to.”
The full details surrounding George's exit remain unclear, but the new twist has sparked further discussion among fans.
