Lorraine Kelly Show Off Air After ITV Studio Power Cut

Lorraine Kelly's ITV show was pulled from the schedule on Wednesday after a power outage at the studio in Covent Garden. The Scottish presenter, 66, announced the news in a video filmed from the back of a car while on her way to work.

Power Outage Affects ITV Daytime Shows

Kelly told viewers that the show would not air as planned, but Good Morning Britain (GMB) would still be broadcast. She added that the issue was expected to be fixed around 11 o'clock, allowing This Morning to air later than usual.

In her video, Kelly said: "Hello there. I'm on my way to work but there's been a little bit of a hoohah. There's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today, but you can still watch GMB. They are going to fix it around 11 o'clock-ish, so This Morning will still be on as well, just a little bit later."

She expressed disappointment at missing an interview with Sharleen Spiteri from the band Texas, who was due to promote the group's new single, Another Way To Cry, and their 30th anniversary tour. Kelly said the interview would be rescheduled.

ITV Statement and Pre-Recorded Segments

In a statement, a spokesperson for ITV said: "Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today. We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible."

This Morning was airing pre-recorded segments, with an on-screen message alerting viewers that the programme was pre-recorded. During GMB, host Susanna Reid confirmed the power outage in the Lorraine studio and said Kelly was not on air that day.

GMB was extended by 30 minutes, with Reid joking that she hoped the production team had enough content to fill the extra time.

Changes to Kelly's Show

Kelly has hosted her eponymous programme since 2010 and previously presented on GMB, GMTV, This Morning and Daybreak. Earlier this year, ITV announced scheduling changes that will reduce her morning programme from one hour to 30 minutes, airing 30 weeks out of 52 from 2026.

Kelly said the changes had given her more time to write, and she recently published her second novel, The Island Secret, a sequel to her 2024 debut, The Island Swimmer.
