Lorna Luxe's Heartbreaking Final Date Night in Wedding Dress Before Husband's Death
In a deeply moving tribute, influencer Lorna Luxe has revealed intimate details of her final date night with her beloved husband, John Andrews, just weeks before his tragic passing on February 11. John had been courageously battling stage four adrenal cancer, a rare and aggressive disease that returned in 2024 after an initial diagnosis in April 2023.
A Special Evening in a Slinky White Dress
In December, Lorna announced to her fans that she and John were planning a romantic date night, with a unique twist: she would be wearing her wedding dress for the first time in 16 years. Sharing a heartfelt clip on TikTok, Lorna was seen applying makeup and slipping into the elegant white gown. She captioned the video, "No kids, a naughty night away and I’m wearing my wedding dress for the first time in 16 years."
The video captured John's emotional reaction upon seeing Lorna in the dress. Dressed smartly in a tuxedo, he exclaimed, "Are you joking?! Oh my god, you look beautiful." This tender moment highlighted the couple's enduring love and connection, despite the devastating health challenges they faced.
Recalling Their Unconventional Wedding Day
Lorna went on to share memories of their "unconventional" wedding day, which took place in New York on her 26th birthday. "We got married in New York on my 26th birthday. This was 16 years ago and I just remember being obsessed with Sex And The City," she explained. John had gone above and beyond, maxing out his credit card to book rooms at Soho House so Lorna could live out her "Annabelle Bronstein fantasy."
Despite financial constraints that meant they couldn't afford a makeup artist, John meticulously planned the entire day. "He found the celebrant, chose the food, he even dragged his best man to the flower market and did all the arrangements himself," Lorna recalled. The ceremony, held on a roasting hot August evening, was delayed until dusk, with John insisting that Lorna, her mother, and bridesmaid relax by the pool while he handled all the preparations. "He was the biggest green flag from day one," she added fondly.
Overcoming a 21-Year Age Gap
One of the most unconventional aspects of their relationship was their 21-year age gap. Lorna reflected, "If I had a pound for every person who told me it wouldn't work. But this is the thing about love, right? If it’s meant to be, it will be." This sentiment underscored the strength and resilience of their bond, which endured through years of happiness and hardship.
John's Brave Battle with Cancer
John's health struggles began with a diagnosis of stage four adrenal cancer in April 2023. After undergoing treatment, he entered remission, but the cancer returned in 2024 and spread to his brain. Despite surgery and defying the odds, the disease progressed to other organs, making further treatment impossible. Lorna shared that they were "looking for a bit of a miracle" and taking each day as it came, holding onto hope until the very end.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Lorna announced John's passing: "My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted." She revealed their final conversation, where John, despite feeling "rough," told her he was "in love," showcasing his unwavering devotion.
Gratitude for Support and Care
Lorna expressed profound gratitude for the district nurses who provided daily care, particularly Anna, whom she described as "a real life angel." She also thanked her mother for offering strength during this difficult time. The couple had been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from friends and strangers, which provided comfort in their darkest moments.
In the weeks leading up to John's death, Lorna had to postpone a charity event in Manchester due to his declining health. She explained, "John is currently extremely unwell, and right now it isn't the right time for me to be away from his side." Despite the heartbreak, she remained committed to supporting cancer charities, with all ticket sales intended for Maggie's Cancer Care and The Meath Epilepsy Charity.
A Legacy of Love and Courage
Lorna's story is a poignant reminder of the power of love in the face of adversity. She described John as "possibly the bravest person I know," and their journey together, marked by joy, challenges, and unwavering support, serves as an inspiration to many. As they faced the end, Lorna affirmed, "We haven’t come this far, just to come this far," encapsulating their resilient spirit.
