Lindsay Lohan has officially confirmed that a sequel to the beloved 2003 Disney comedy Freaky Friday is in development—and it’s set to be even wilder than the original.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed that the project, tentatively titled Freakier Friday, is moving forward with both her and co-star Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their iconic roles.
A Long-Awaited Return
The original film, which followed a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies, became a cult classic, praised for its humour and heartwarming storyline. Fans have been clamouring for a sequel for years, and now their wishes are finally being granted.
"We’re working on it," Lohan said excitedly. "Jamie and I have been talking about it for a while, and now it’s really happening. It’s going to be even crazier this time."
What to Expect
While plot details remain under wraps, insiders suggest the sequel will explore a new twist on the body-swap premise, with even more chaotic and hilarious consequences. The original film’s director, Mark Waters, is also reportedly in talks to return.
Curtis, who recently won an Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, has previously expressed enthusiasm for revisiting the franchise. "The first film was such a joy to make," she said. "If we can capture that magic again, it’ll be worth it."
Fan Reactions
News of the sequel has sent fans into a frenzy, with social media buzzing over the potential return of the beloved duo. Many are speculating whether other original cast members, such as Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon, might also make appearances.
Disney has yet to confirm an official release date, but with both Lohan and Curtis on board, anticipation is already sky-high.
