Singer and actress Lily Allen has made a startling confession about the dark side of fame, revealing she's bombarded with graphic and disturbing direct messages on a daily basis.
The 38-year-old star didn't hold back when discussing the "absolutely disgusting" content strangers feel entitled to send her through social media platforms.
The Constant Stream of Unwanted Content
Allen explained that despite not having an OnlyFans account or similar subscription service, she receives explicit photos and videos regularly from people who apparently believe she's interested in seeing them.
"I get sent the most disgusting things every day," the singer revealed. "People think because I'm outspoken about certain topics that I want to see their... well, you can imagine."
Fighting Back Against Online Harassment
Rather than suffering in silence, Allen has developed her own method of dealing with the inappropriate messages. She's turned the tables on her harassers by publicly calling out their behaviour and making them accountable for their actions.
The "Smile" singer has become known for sharing screenshots of the worst messages she receives, often adding her own witty or scathing commentary that puts the senders in their place.
The Mental Toll of Constant Harassment
While Allen maintains a brave face publicly, she admitted that the relentless stream of explicit content does take a psychological toll.
"You build up a thick skin in this industry, but some days it's just exhausting," she confessed. "Nobody should have to deal with this level of harassment just for having a public profile."
Her revelations have sparked conversations about the need for better protection for public figures and women in particular against online sexual harassment.
