Lewis Capaldi brought TRNSMT 2026 to a close at Glasgow Green with an emotive set that turned the festival into a giant singalong. The Scottish singer was met with cheers and rapturous applause as he delivered powerful vocals and a cheeky Father's Day message.
Father's Day Humor and Emotional Moments
Capaldi joked, “Happy Father’s Day to those with fathers and if you don’t have a father, I'll be your daddy.” He then quipped about making everyone feel miserable with his songs. The singer entered the stage to his track Hollywood, swiftly followed by a powerful rendition of Grace.
A Journey Through TRNSMT History
Capaldi reminisced about his five appearances at TRNSMT, starting in 2017 on the King Tut's stage with only one or two songs out. In 2018, he opened the main stage to an empty crowd, joking, “I thought, 'f***, this has gone tits up.'” In 2019, he stepped in for Snow Patrol, and in 2022, he headlined for the first time. He thanked the festival for the money and said, “It still holds a special place because we've done so many things here from the start.”
Shout-Out to Susan Boyle and Mental Health
Capaldi gave a special shout-out to fellow West Lothian native Susan Boyle, who watched from the side of the stage. “I’ll never be the most famous person from there,” he said. He also touched on his mental health break, performing The Day I Died, a song about that time. He told the crowd, “When I first took that break, there was a time I never thought I’d be here. To be here is really special.”
Memorable Setlist and Festival Finale
The set included Forever, Bruises, Pointless, Hold Me While You Wait, Forget Me, and an acoustic cover of Have You Ever Seen The Rain? Capaldi thanked Glasgow and announced he was taking a break to write a new album, hoping fans would return when he comes back. As the sun set, he led the crowd in a swaying rendition of Survive before finishing with his biggest hit, Someone You Loved, as pyrotechnics lit up the stage, marking the perfect end to the three-day festival.
