Lewis Capaldi celebrated the one-year anniversary of his return to music with a heartfelt social media post, thanking fans for their unwavering support. The Scottish singer, 29, shared clips and a selfie on Instagram on June 27, 2026, writing: "One year back in the saddle and from getting back on stage at Glastonbury to now what a year it’s been. Celebrating by playing to 70 thousand people in Exeter over the next two days. Thanks for everything my guys."
A Year Since the Comeback
Capaldi had stepped away from music after a difficult performance at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in 2023, citing mental health struggles. He later revealed he thought he was "done indefinitely." However, in June 2025, he made a surprise return to the same festival, calling it "second time's a charm." During that set, he told the crowd: "The last three years haven’t been the best for me. It’s been a difficult time. This has been my f***ing goal, to get back here doing this."
Since then, Capaldi has toured extensively across the UK, Australia, Europe, and America. His anniversary post drew thousands of likes and comments, with fans calling him a "living legend" and one saying: "That day was the happiest day of my life."
Mental Health and Tourette's
Capaldi has been open about his mental health and Tourette's syndrome. He credits therapy as a key factor in his return and supported the BetterHelp campaign in 2025 to encourage others to prioritise their wellbeing.
TRNSMT Homecoming
On June 21, 2026, Capaldi performed at TRNSMT in Glasgow, his fifth time at the festival. He told fans: "2017, we played over in the King Tut's stage. I think I had one song out at the time, maybe two. ... 2018, I opened up the main stage for the first time. It was f***ing empty. ... 2019, Snow Patrol were playing. But they couldn't play so we stepped in. ... 2022, yeah, we headlined it for the first time. This evening, in front of you I’m back. Thank you very much for sticking with me all this time."
He added: "It still holds a special place because you know, we've done f***ing so many things here from the start we belong here. About almost 10 years later, the festival holds a special place, genuinely, and they shine the light on an incredible thing, the stars of tomorrow."
