Misse Beqiri, the former partner of TOWIE star Jake Hall, has opened up about the devastating moment she told their eight-year-old daughter River that her father had died. Jake Hall passed away at the age of 35 after crashing through a glass door at his rented flat in Spain. River is now receiving therapy to cope with the loss.
The Heartbreaking Conversation
Beqiri described the conversation as the worst thing she has ever had to do. She told the Mirror: "It was the worst thing I've ever had to do. I know I keep saying this, but it didn't feel like it was real for me to have to tell my child that her dad had passed." River was understandably upset. When Beqiri took her back to school, River asked: "Do people know I don't have a dad now?"
Support and Therapy
Beqiri emphasised the importance of maintaining River's routine. She said: "We're trying to maintain her routine, but when I took her back to school, she asked: 'Do people know I don't have a dad now?' It's so much for her little mind to process. She's having therapy. She's got her grandparents and all the rest of Jake's family and friends, as well as my family."
The Day of the Accident
Beqiri was in Spain when the accident occurred. She had been working in Ibiza and lost her passport. To obtain an emergency passport, she had to travel to Mallorca. Speaking to The Sun, she explained: "The strangest thing was that I was also in Spain when it occurred. I had never misplaced my passport before, but on this occasion, I was returning from a work stint in Ibiza and arrived at the airport only to discover it was gone. To obtain an emergency passport, I had to travel to Mallorca. As fate would have it, I was in Mallorca the day he passed away, but I wasn't aware of it at the time."
She received the call while sorting out her passport and flew back home in a daze. She stated: "I don't have any more information about what happened that night. My knowledge is limited to what the police report has revealed – that it was a terrible accident."
Funeral and Tributes
Earlier this month, Jake Hall was laid to rest at a funeral and wake attended by James Argent and David Beckham's mother and sister, Sandra and Joanne Beckham, as well as Beqiri and Jake's other ex-partner, TOWIE star Chloe Lewis.
