Kim Kardashian's law mentor has broken her silence on the reality star's six-year legal journey and recent failure to pass the California Bar Exam. Kardashian, 45, has studied law through California's law office study program, an apprenticeship path requiring four years of supervised study, rather than attending a traditional law school.
Her mentor, criminal-justice reform attorney Jessica Jackson, told the Daily Mail that Kardashian's path demanded serious rigor. 'She did not have the benefit of a structured curriculum, regular check-ins with professors or classmates, or a clear path forward. She had to create all of that for herself,' Jackson said.
Kardashian documented her failure on social media, posting an emotional video of herself crying while studying. She wrote on Instagram: 'Six years into this law journey, and I'm still all in until I pass the bar. Falling short isn't failure - it's fuel.' She previously passed the 'baby bar' exam in 2021 after three failed attempts and reportedly passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in March.
Jackson praised Kardashian's transparency, saying: 'Her transparency about failing the bar will help other people understand that setbacks are a part of life and do not have to define you. I have no doubt that Kim is going to keep working until she gets the job done.'
Kardashian recently publicly backed the Safer Supervision Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at reforming the federal supervision system. Jackson noted that Kardashian's strength as a legal thinker lies in her awareness of the human lives affected by the justice system.
