Kelly Brook has urged I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers to accept her curves, after being trolled over her figure ahead of her appearance on the show. The 46-year-old TV presenter and former model was subjected to vicious comments about her body after landing at Brisbane airport last Sunday.
As she prepares to strip off for the famous Jungle shower, Brook said: 'Obviously, I am not a 20-year-old bikini model anymore. You know, life changes and your body changes. And I just hope people are accepting of me and how I look now, and not comparing me to how I used to look.' She added: 'I am older, but I am still strong and I am still fit, and that is the most important thing.'
Brook, who has faced criticism over her figure for years, said she has 'embraced' her curves. 'I feel really confident. I feel like my body is in good shape. I just feel great,' she said. 'I am 46, I embrace my curves. I embrace my body. I ran a marathon this year...so I am proud of that.' She previously said she is a 'healthy size 12' and is 'not apologising for having boobs and a bum'.
Brook has packed 'plenty of swimsuits' for the Jungle Shower and discussed it with Myleene Klass, whose white bikini moment in 2006 became iconic. 'Myleene did talk to me about the shower,' Brook said. 'She said that when she arrived she did not actually have a swimsuit that was appropriate for the television... so she actually had to run out and get something.' However, Brook warned: 'The showers are freezing so I will be in and out very quickly.'
The star admitted the toughest part of being away is separation from her husband Jeremy Parisi, 40. 'That is what is really quite frightening,' she said. 'We have been together 10 years... we do pretty much everything together.' She said the opportunity to do the show came as a test for herself: 'I wonder if I can do this on my own.' She added she is more worried about him being at home alone, but his mother will step in to care for him and their dog.
Brook sought advice from former contestants including Oti Mabuse, Jane Moore, and Chris Moyles. 'Everyone I spoke to said it was life-changing... one of the best things they have ever done,' she said. Moyles jokingly advised her to 'sneak in a microwave', while Moore suggested keeping busy with cleaning. Brook, who will turn 47 in camp, said she is most concerned about spiders in the dunny and leeches, after Moore showed her a picture of a leech that 'lived off her breast all night'.
