Model and television personality Kelly Brook has made a surprising revelation just days before entering the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, disclosing that her doctor recently offered her a controversial weight-loss injection.
Doctor's Unexpected Offer
The 45-year-old former model, who is scheduled to enter the Australian jungle this Sunday, shared that her physician offered her Mounjaro during a recent appointment. Speaking candidly on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, Brook expressed her astonishment at the suggestion.
"I was offered Mounjaro literally last week by a doctor. Isn't that insane?" she revealed. When she questioned why she would need such treatment, the doctor reportedly told her "everyone's on it," a claim Brook immediately challenged.
Standing Her Ground
Brook demonstrated remarkable self-assurance during the consultation, pressing the medical professional about potential side effects. "I said, 'What are the side effects?' he was like, 'There aren't any,'" she recounted, clearly sceptical of this assurance.
The conversation continued, but Brook remained firm in her position. "There was a whole conversation, but I don't comply. He knows I don't comply because they try and give me all sorts of things. I know what I like," she stated emphatically.
Embracing Natural Curves
While Brook admitted she's not completely opposed to cosmetic "tweakments" - acknowledging she enjoys facials, massages, and "a little Botox because I frown a lot" - she draws a firm line at pharmaceutical weight management.
"I do do things, but when it comes to my body, I'm really precious about my body," she explained. "I love my body, I absolutely love my body. I did a marathon this year, and I'm 45 years old."
Her appreciation extends beyond personal satisfaction to how others perceive her. "My body has got me through so many things, and I just love my curves, my husband loves my curves," she shared, adding her regret that "women feel the need to change who they are."
Jungle Preparations
Ahead of her jungle debut, Brook has taken an unconventional approach to preparation. Rather than intensive training or dieting, she's been "fattening herself up" with chocolate, roast dinners, and wine in anticipation of the show's famous food shortages.
"I said I was going to go to the gym and do some big hikes. I haven't done any of that," she confessed. Her only concessions to preparation have been cutting down on caffeine and sugar.
In a nod to one of the show's most memorable moments, Brook confirmed she's packed bikinis and might recreate Myleene Klass's iconic jungle shower scene from 2006. "It's definitely an iconic moment isn't it? It's scary, but I have got lots of swimwear options," she said.
Understanding Mounjaro
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is primarily a prescription medication for treating type 2 diabetes, though it's also approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight individuals with weight-related health conditions.
According to NHS guidelines, adults with a BMI between 30 and 39.9 are considered medically obese, while anything higher than 40 indicates morbid obesity. Common side effects of the drug can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, decreased appetite, and constipation.
Brook joins fellow celebrities including Martin Kemp, Ruby Wax, and Alex Scott when the new series of I'm A Celebrity begins on Sunday at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
