Reality television star Katie Price has candidly shared the emotional turmoil she has experienced during a challenging week with her eldest son, Harvey Price. The 23-year-old, who has multiple complex health conditions, reportedly became distressed while moving between homes, resulting in significant property damage.
A Mother's Heartache During Transition
During the latest episode of her podcast, the 47-year-old celebrity detailed the unsettling events that unfolded as Harvey returned to his temporary accommodation in Littlehampton. The family is currently awaiting the completion of new housing situated closer to Katie's residence, but the interim arrangement has proven difficult for Harvey to accept.
"I've had Harvey as well the past two weeks and he's not been good," Katie explained. "He didn't want to go, crying, it reminded me of when he was younger so he threw my bedroom furniture about."
Property Damage and Emotional Distress
The situation escalated when Harvey reportedly destroyed several valuable items. Katie revealed that he smashed her tropical lighting fixtures with large bulbs before completely destroying his iPad beyond repair. The distress was so severe that transportation to the train station became problematic.
Throughout the week, Katie received concerning updates from Harvey's temporary accommodation. "They've got massive big windows in his room and they've made them – not bullet-proof but Harvey-proof – he's popped two of them out, broke another iPad that he got," she shared.
When staff inquired about the cause of Harvey's behaviour, they reported that his actions stemmed from a simple desire: "Because he wants you. He just loves being at home with me."
Understanding Harvey's Complex Needs
Harvey Price lives with multiple health conditions that contribute to his challenges during transitions. These include Prader-Willi Syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, autism, ADHD, and cortisol deficiency. Each condition presents unique difficulties that require careful management and understanding.
Katie expressed her son's clear preference during this period of change: "And he just goes 'Little Hampton and Mummy' he hates it there he just wants to see me every day and stuff. So it's been a tough week with Harvey."
Future Plans and Health Goals
Looking ahead, the family anticipates viewing Harvey's new permanent accommodation next week. This move represents part of a broader plan to support Harvey's wellbeing, particularly regarding his weight management.
Earlier this year, Katie documented conversations about health goals with her son. In a YouTube video from New Year's Eve, she discussed Harvey's current weight of "just under 30 stone" and made plans to help him become fitter and healthier.
"What we're gonna do this year is get very, very healthy so you can get on those rollercoasters for your birthday," Katie told Harvey during their recorded conversation. The pair exchanged a pinky promise regarding healthy eating habits, though Katie acknowledged this represented a recurring challenge.
Harvey responded positively to his mother's encouragement, expressing particular interest in riding the Grand National roller coaster in Blackpool. Katie reassured him that this destination would be more accessible than travelling to America for similar attractions.
This recent episode highlights the ongoing challenges faced by families supporting loved ones with complex needs during periods of change and transition.
