Katie Price's Husband Seeks UAE Driving Licence After Seventh UK Ban
Katie Price's husband, Lee Andrews, has disclosed his intention to secure a United Arab Emirates driving licence for the former glamour model, following her seventh disqualification from driving in the United Kingdom. The 47-year-old television personality received a six-month ban after failing to respond to police correspondence regarding an 80mph speeding ticket.
The Latest Offence and Conviction
Price's most recent driving violation occurred when a Ford Capri registered under her name was recorded travelling at 80mph on the A64 near Sutton in North Yorkshire. After neglecting to reply to official letters confirming vehicle ownership, she was convicted of failing to respond to police inquiries at Harrogate Magistrates' Court.
Magistrate Claire Sagar imposed a £660 fine, alongside £120 in legal costs and a £264 victim surcharge. This latest penalty adds to Price's extensive history of motoring offences, which includes multiple previous bans for speeding, driving while disqualified, and drink-driving incidents.
UAE Licence Strategy and Potential Complications
Andrews, 41, has asserted that Price will soon be driving again through obtaining a licence from Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. However, this plan faces potential obstacles due to ongoing digital integration between the UK's Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and UAE authorities.
If Price's UAE licence application was submitted before her current ban, she might legally drive in Dubai, though she would be required to disclose her UK disqualification to insurers. Failure to provide this information could result in deportation, substantial fines, or imprisonment. Conversely, if her application follows the ban and the RTA verifies her foreign licence status, it will likely be rejected outright.
When questioned about Price's eligibility for driving in Dubai, her spokesperson responded: "I have no idea. It's something she'll have to look into."
Background of Driving Offences
Price's problematic driving record spans over a decade, beginning with a six-month ban in December 2010 for speeding. Subsequent violations led to a one-year disqualification in 2012 for ignoring speeding tickets, another six-month ban in February 2018, and a three-month prohibition in January 2019 for driving while disqualified.
In February 2019, she was convicted of being drunk in charge of a vehicle after police witnessed her car leaving the road and striking a grass verge. Later that year, she received an 18-month ban for failing to identify the driver following a collision.
The most severe incident occurred in 2021 when Price flipped her car and admitted to police: "I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all." This resulted in a two-year driving ban, a 16-week suspended prison sentence, 100 hours of community service, and rehabilitation sessions. District Judge Amanda Kelly remarked: "You appear to think you are above the law."
Marriage Context and Personal Dynamics
Andrews and Price married in January after knowing each other for just ten days, holding both a ceremonial and legal wedding. Their relationship has attracted scrutiny due to allegations against Andrews' character, with former partners labelling him a "scammer" and urging Price to exercise caution.
Andrews has denied claims of being subject to a travel ban following allegations he forged an ex-girlfriend's signature to secure a £200,000 loan. Meanwhile, Price has indicated she will remain in the UK while awaiting Andrews' potential visit, stating on her YouTube channel: "Hopefully Lee will be flying to the UK soon. I'm not going to go to Dubai now for a bit. I've done my bit in Dubai."
She elaborated on her perspective: "When I go to Dubai, I don't look at it like a holiday... What I would do here, it's the same there." Andrews has also reportedly joined the OnlyFans platform despite previously claiming billionaire status, adding further complexity to their public narrative.
The couple's future mobility plans remain uncertain as regulatory developments between UK and UAE authorities could significantly impact Price's ability to obtain foreign driving privileges while serving her latest disqualification.
