Katie Price sparks concern with 'devastating news' post

Katie Price has sparked concern among her online followers after sharing what she described as "devastating news" on social media in the early hours of Thursday morning. The 48-year-old TV star took to her Instagram Stories shortly after midnight to post an update, though the details of the news remain unclear.

In her message, Price wrote: "Had devastating news tonight [broken heart and crying emojis]. Love, health and family is so important. Cherish every moment with love ones and build memories. And no it's not my mum [praying emoji]."

Mum Amy's Health Struggles

Price's reassurance came amid ongoing concern for her mother, Amy, who has been battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a lung condition. Earlier this month, while testifying in court, Price said: "My mum's dying at the moment and I haven’t been able to see her [because] I've got a cold… She's got days."

Amy was diagnosed with IPF in 2017. According to the NHS, IPF is "a rare condition where your lungs become scarred, making it harder to breathe." The health organisation notes there is currently no cure, but treatments are available to help manage symptoms.

Doctors warned at the time of diagnosis that Amy had less than five years left to live. Last month, Price admitted her fears that her terminally ill mother is "taking a turn" for the worse.

Family Taking It Day by Day

Speaking to her sister Sophie on their podcast, Price said the family was taking things "day by day" as they did not know what would happen with their mum's health. She said: "At the moment, we're playing it day by day with Mum. We're all juggling, depends how my mum is each day to what we do. Obviously if Mum takes a turn, Mum's more important than anything."

Sophie said her sister's support "is going to go" when their mum passes, adding that "the person you support is going to..." before trailing off.

Both sisters said they had been spending significant time with Amy at the hospital, with Price explaining the family had been "trying hard" to care for her. Sophie, however, had been present at the hospital more than Price had, earning "brownie points."

Price said she would go to the hospital more but struggled because of work and caring for her eldest son, Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, and septo-optic dysplasia. She said on the podcast: "When I've got Harv, and I haven't got carers or anything every day - only a Monday and a Friday I get help - and it's hard to bring Harv. I've got to work, and I can't work if I've got Harv. It's just everything is a right juggle at the minute."
