Katie Price Feared Mum Amy Would Die During Sky Doc Filming

Katie Price has revealed that she feared her mother, Amy, would die while filming her new Sky documentary, Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, which premiered on July 8. The 48-year-old former model opened up about her fears during a candid discussion on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, alongside her sister Sophie, producer Laura Wadha, and director Paddy Wiell.

Health Struggles and Lung Transplant

Amy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2017, a condition causing irreversible lung scarring that makes breathing difficult. In 2023, she underwent a life-changing lung transplant, yet continues to face health challenges. Katie recounted moments during filming when she thought they might lose Amy, saying, "There were so many times we thought we were gonna lose mum through the filming."

Sophie echoed this sentiment, admitting there was a point when she doubted Amy would survive. Katie added, "She just keeps battling through and I never thought she'd make the BAFTAs, none of us did."

Emotional BAFTA Appearance

Katie broke down in tears at BAFTA Piccadilly while reflecting on her mother's presence at the event. "I cried because my mum was sitting there, fragile, because she made it," she said. Just days earlier, Amy had been hospitalized for weeks. At the documentary launch, Katie told the audience, "She only got out of hospital five days ago and she's been in there for weeks. And the fact you're here looking gorgeous."

Earlier this year, Katie expressed gratitude for another year with her mother, noting in a YouTube video that Amy is "a lot more frail than she used to be," but emphasized that her mother's mind remains sharp. Amy has struggled with mobility post-transplant, often needing a wheelchair for outings, which Katie humorously acknowledged: "I'm like 'No, we're taking your wheelchair because I'm not taking an hour.'"
