Katherine Ryan Undergoes Major Cosmetic Surgery Shortly After Childbirth

Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan has openly discussed undergoing a significant £16,000 facelift procedure merely weeks after giving birth to her fourth child. The 42-year-old entertainer, known for her candid approach to cosmetic enhancements like Botox and fillers, welcomed her daughter Holland in October 2025.

Revealing the Surgical Details on Her Podcast

Speaking on her popular podcast Telling Everybody Everything, Ryan provided comprehensive details about the extensive cosmetic work she elected to have performed. "The surgery was a facelift. Yes, a full facelift – a little bit of fat transfer to my cheekbone area, and a small blepharoplasty," she explained to her audience.

Ryan elaborated on the blepharoplasty procedure, noting "A bleph is when they take a tiny bit of your eyelid skin, though not too much, and then they’ll usually, to avoid hollowness, put a little bit of fat back in there too." She confirmed receiving fat transfers to her upper face and eyelids alongside the comprehensive facelift.

Motivations Behind the Postpartum Procedure

The comedian articulated her psychological motivations for pursuing surgery during this period, stating she felt compelled to "reclaim my identity, to reclaim my autonomy, to claw back the face that I had in, like, 2019." Ryan emphasized she wasn't attempting to revert to her appearance from decades past, but rather sought to restore her pre-pandemic look.

"I am not crazy," she asserted. "I’m not trying to wind it back to 2006. I’m just trying to look the way I did, like, pre-COVID, pre-six pregnancies in five years." This statement references her multiple pregnancies within a relatively condensed timeframe.

Recovery Experience and Daily Life Continuation

Remarkably, Ryan described her recovery as relatively manageable, noting "The beauty is you’re pretty numb afterwards." While experiencing expected bruising and swelling, she maintained her regular activities almost immediately post-procedure.

"I just went about my daily life from day one," she revealed, explaining she managed pain with basic over-the-counter medications like paracetamol and ibuprofen for approximately three days. Her recovery period coincided with the festive season, during which she attended Christmas parties, took her children to Lapland, participated in carol concerts, and cared for her newborn.

Bringing Her Newborn to the Surgical Appointment

In a particularly unconventional decision, Ryan brought her eight-week-old daughter to York for the surgical procedure, explaining "I elected to take the baby with me because she just turned eight weeks that day and I’m still breastfeeding her, obviously, I will be for a long time."

She acknowledged initial self-doubt about this choice, questioning "Katherine Ryan what is your damage? What the f*** are you doing? Why have you brought a baby to surgery." However, she rationalized her decision by comparing it to women recovering from cesarean sections while caring for newborns, noting "a C-section was 'much more serious' than what I had."

Family Context and Personal Life

Katherine Ryan shares her youngest daughter Holland with husband Bobby Koostra, along with daughter Fenna and son Fred. The comedian also has a teenage daughter named Violet from a previous relationship. Her openness about cosmetic procedures continues her pattern of transparency regarding beauty treatments and personal choices.
