Jamie Laing has revealed he was mistaken for a character from the teen drama One Tree Hill while attending Dancing With The Stars this week.
The 37-year-old former Made in Chelsea star was spotted in the audience, with some US viewers unaware of who he was. Laing shared a screenshot from a social media user who confused him with “Derek”, a stalker character from the popular WB show.
Social Media Mix-Up
“Of all the things I did not expect to see Peyton Sawyer’s OTH psycho stalker in the DWTS ballroom tonight,” the user wrote.
Sharing the image along with two photographs of the character, Laing wrote: “Not the US audience thinking I was Peyton Sawyer's Stalker from One Tree Hill... Apparently his name is Derek. Thanks for having me guys.”
Character Background
The character’s real name was Ian Banks, but he pretended to be Peyton’s estranged brother Derek and was later caught and jailed. He was played by Matt Barr. One Tree Hill aired from 2003 to 2012 and starred Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush.
