James Bourne Supported by GMB Stars After Health Update

Good Morning Britain personalities have expressed their support for James Bourne following his rare update. Richard Arnold appeared alongside hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh on the ITV breakfast show for his regular showbiz update. Amongst Call The Midwife and Bullseye coverage, Richard paused to discuss Busted member James Bourne.

The musician, 42, has opened up in a recent interview after stepping back from public life before his group's joint tour with McFly last year. Earlier this year, James disclosed he required significant surgery to prolong his life, but has now revealed a fresh project he's been developing.

He said: "I didn't want my health to stop me from promoting this project because I've put 13 years of my life into it. There was a fear of not finishing it. But I knew I had to finish it and give this to the people." He continued by explaining that he "was given a lot of time back" after withdrawing from the tour, although "it was such a shame".

James told The Sun: "With everything going on with my health, I have been given the gift of time. I was given a lot of time back when I wasn't touring. It was like turning a negative into a positive. It was such a shame to have to drop out from the tour, because I love touring so much. But you have to turn negative into positive. They're the conversations I've had with my closest friends."

Speaking about James' update on Good Morning Britain on Friday (June 19), Richard said: "Positive news from the world of music, from James Bourne who shocked fans last year when he had to sit out the latest tour." He continued: "James has revealed that he's used the time to rest," before announcing the musician's new album, Murder at the Gates. Richard added: "We wish him all the best," as Ranvir said: "We're sending him all our love."

James had revealed in April that he needed major surgery after skipping shows and sparking concern among fans as he took time away. "I realised it's been about six months since I posted last," he shared on Instagram. "I have a plan in place to have a major surgery that should extend my life and hopefully make me well enough to come back to what I love the most which is touring and making music. It really sucks to be out of the game. But there is hope!"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
