The family of Hulk Hogan have spoken out for the first time since the WWE legend's death at the age of 71. The wrestling icon passed away on Thursday following reports of a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida.
In a statement posted on Hogan's official Instagram page, his family wrote: 'It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. Our beloved Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, passed away today surrounded by his loved ones. At this time of grief, we ask that everyone please respect the privacy of his family and friends.'
Hogan's health had been a concern in recent weeks. In May, he underwent a neck fusion procedure, and a month later a YouTuber claimed things were 'not looking good'. A representative denied the speculation, saying the surgery was successful. However, complications led to a hospital stay before he was transferred home.
Hogan is survived by his third wife, Sky, whom he married in 2023, and his two children from his first marriage to Linda Claridge: Brooke, 36, and Nick, 34. Brooke did not attend her father's wedding to Sky. The WWE also paid tribute, saying Hogan 'helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s'.
