Holly Willoughby is reportedly planning a major career comeback with a Netflix documentary series similar to that of Victoria Beckham, according to a source. The 45-year-old TV presenter has largely stayed out of the public eye since leaving This Morning in 2023 following a series of scandals, including the fallout with former co-host Phillip Schofield and a terrifying kidnap plot against her.
The proposed three-part fly-on-the-wall series is seen as an opportunity for Willoughby to reset her public image and win back fans by showing a more personal side. The source told HeatWorld that the documentary would likely address controversies such as the 'queue-gate' incident in 2022, when she and Schofield were accused of skipping the queue to see the late Queen lying in state, and the breakdown of their friendship after Schofield admitted to an affair with a younger male colleague.
Willoughby's career has faced further setbacks, including the axing of Dancing on Ice just a year after her return, the cancellation of You Bet! after one series, and the end of Celebrity Bear Hunt in 2025. Her lifestyle business Wylde Moon reportedly had only £1,885 in reserves in 2024, despite earlier predictions of significant earnings. PR expert Maya Riaz noted that broadcasters are nervous about divisive figures, and the lack of primetime opportunities signals a reluctance to take risks on Willoughby.
On a personal level, Willoughby was the victim of a kidnap, rape and murder plot by former security guard Gavin Plumb, who attempted to appeal his sentence in October 2024. In December, she pleaded guilty to causing a road accident that injured a scooter rider, receiving six points on her licence and a fine of £1,653. The source added that Willoughby is 'painfully aware she has to reinvent herself' to remain relevant in the spotlight.
