Heritage Live, the UK festival series known for staging concerts at historic estates, has cancelled its entire summer 2026 lineup, including performances by Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, and The Streets. The company cited poor ticket sales and rising costs as the primary reasons for the cancellation, which was announced just weeks before the first scheduled show.
Festivals at Three Historic Estates Axed
The series was set to take place at the Sandringham Royal Estate, Englefield Estate, and Audley End Estate, with 11 days of concerts starting 23 July. Jackson and Aguilera were booked as headliners at Sandringham, alongside Eric Clapton, Lionel Richie, and Ricky Martin. Faithless, Scissor Sisters, and The Streets were scheduled at the other venues.
Statement from Heritage Live
In a statement on Instagram on 13 July, Heritage Live expressed devastation over the cancellation, noting that they had faced an “extraordinarily tough year” and worked “desperately hard behind the scenes” to secure investment, which “fell through at the 11th hour.” The company highlighted that many shows had “far lower than average ticket sales” due to the cost-of-living crisis, combined with rising artist and supplier costs.
“As one of the few remaining British independent promoters, it’s become almost impossible to compete in what has become an increasingly saturated festival market,” the statement read. “It would therefore be irresponsible and wrong of us to proceed without the certainty that we’d be able to meet all of our supplier, artist and crew costs.”
Refunds for Ticketholders
Heritage Live advised ticketholders who purchased through agents like AXS Ticketing, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, or Ticketline to expect automatic refunds, and to contact agents directly with queries. The company had not posted on Instagram for nearly a month before the announcement, despite earlier promotions urging followers to “book tickets now before it’s too late.”
Other acts affected include Richard Ashcroft, Ronnie Wood, Example, UB40, JME, Pete Tong, Sugababes, and Olly Alexander.
