Helen Flanagan Opens Up About Rejection After Year of Failed Auditions

Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has spoken candidly about the rejection she faced after a year of 'solidly auditioning' for roles. The actress, best known for playing Rosie Webster in the ITV soap, revealed her struggles during an appearance on Wednesday's Lorraine.

Flanagan told presenter Ranvir Singh that she was 'absolutely gutted' after being down to the last two for a stage role but ultimately missing out. 'It was just a goal that I've always wanted to do, but I think it's dealing with the rejections when you don't get an audition,' she said.

The 33-year-old played Rosie Webster over an 18-year period from 2000, leaving the soap in 2018 for maternity leave. She recently appeared on I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, which she described as 'a great distraction' that helped her rediscover what she wanted.

'Not mum Helen or you know... what do I actually want to do so I feel like I'm in that nice stage where I'm finding myself again,' she explained. Flanagan has three children with ex-fiancé, Bristol Rovers footballer Scott Sinclair, from whom she split in July 2022.
