Helen Flanagan Breaks Silence on Social Media Absence
Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has addressed her recent social media hiatus, explaining that she has been feeling 'anxious' and 'frustrated' about her career and personal life. The actress, known for her role as Rosie Webster, returned to Instagram over the weekend with a video story in which she opened up about her struggles.
In the video, Flanagan, now 35, said: 'I really have been kind of quiet on my social. I've just kind of felt like not sure… I've not really been sure of myself recently.' She cited her upcoming 36th birthday in August, a recent house move, and uncertainty about her career direction as key factors behind her absence.
Career Frustration and Desire to Act
Flanagan expressed a strong desire to return to acting, stating: 'I kind of feel like… I'm turning 36 in August, I've just done this house move, I really want to act and basically I just want a job at the moment and I feel frustrated in that way.' She acknowledged that social media has been her primary job from age 28 to nearly 36, and while she enjoyed the creativity and collaboration, she now wants to focus on acting.
She added: 'I have worked on social media, and it's been my job… I genuinely really loved it. I loved the creativity of it and self expression and working with other women.' However, she noted that a 'lot of change' has left her feeling unsettled, including contemplating a move to London.
Uncertainty About Relocation and Future Plans
Flanagan revealed she is 'in two minds about moving to London,' having initially planned to buy a property there but later deciding against it. 'Everything's just been a bit, like, all over the place,' she said. 'I've just felt frustrated with work as well because I really want to act and basically, I just want a job at the moment and feel frustrated in that way.'
The mother of three, whose children are now all in school, emphasized her readiness to concentrate on her career. She has previously expressed interest in returning to Coronation Street, telling the Echo: 'Honestly if they want me to come back, I'd love to, but [show bosses] just haven't spoken to me.' She added: 'I just really want to concentrate on my acting now. I feel really lucky. All my children are now at school so I want to concentrate on my career.'
Recent Appearances and Book Release
Fans were delighted when Flanagan reunited with her former on-screen sister, Brooke Vincent, at an International Women's Day celebration at Salford's Lowry Hotel earlier this year. The event featured inspiring speakers and entertainment. Additionally, Flanagan released a book titled 'Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie' earlier in 2026, in which she discusses her time on the cobbles and her life since leaving the soap.
