Prince Harry made an unexpected reference to his estranged brother, Prince William, during a visit to Birmingham Children's Hospital in July 2026, sparking hopes of a potential reconciliation. The Duke of Sussex was on a five-day trip to the UK, during which he met privately with his father, King Charles, at Highgrove House, but did not see his brother.
Harry's Aston Villa Comment
Speaking with 12-year-old patient Alex Hill, Harry mentioned that he was an Arsenal supporter and asked the teenager who he supported. When Hill said he was an Aston Villa fan, Harry replied: 'Aston Villa, my brother supports Aston Villa.' The pair then discussed the team's recent Europa League win. Prince William is a known Aston Villa fan and has been seen supporting the team at matches.
Years of Estrangement
The brothers have not spoken in years, with tension escalating after Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties in 2020. The release of Harry's memoir, Spare, further strained relations. Harry has spoken openly about his desire to reconcile, telling the BBC in May 2025: 'If they don't want that, that's entirely up to them.' He added: 'There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family. Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things.'
Public Hopes for Reunion
Harry's mention of William has given fans hope that the brothers might reunite. The Duke of Sussex has expressed that any reconciliation is in his family's hands, acknowledging the deep divisions caused by his memoir and other actions.
