Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly facing a challenging new chapter as allegations involving the Duchess's father, Thomas Markle, allegedly threaten to push them even further from the royal fold.
The controversy erupted after the Duchess of Sussex's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., claimed to have discovered explicit images involving children at his 82-year-old father's residence in the Philippines, reportedly alerting both local police and the FBI. Thomas Markle Sr. vehemently denies all of the allegations levelled against him.
Meghan Breaks Her Silence
Breaking her silence, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had previously been made aware of allegations regarding her estranged father. In a statement, Meghan claimed: "In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me. It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father, and I was given assurances that these were being investigated."
Behind palace gates, the controversy is purportedly viewed as an unwelcome distraction that the Firm is keen to avoid.
Commentator Suggests Royal Distance
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield suggested the crisis provides the monarch with a clear path forward, telling Page Six: "This may give King Charles the ammunition to take a firmer stance in distancing the monarchy from Harry and Meghan."
The situation continues to develop as the Sussexes reportedly face the latest family scandal threatening their relationship with the Palace.
