Brad Everett Young, an actor and celebrity photographer known for his role on Grey's Anatomy, has died at the age of 46 following a car crash in Los Angeles.
According to his publicist, Paul Christensen, Young was returning home from a cinema trip on Sunday night when his car was struck by a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the Ventura Freeway. He died at the scene, while the other driver was hospitalised and survived.
Young, originally from Virginia, began his acting career in the late 1990s. He appeared in shows such as Grey's Anatomy and Boy Meets World, as well as films including Love & Basketball, Charlie's Angels, and I Love You, Man. In a 2008 episode of Grey's Anatomy, he played an appendectomy patient.
Beyond acting, Young was a renowned photographer, capturing stars like David Harbour, Paul Walker, and Seth Green for publications such as Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Fair. He also founded the arts education programme Dream Loud Official, implemented in schools across the US, with a motto that 'creativity is not a luxury but an essential part of education'.
His publicist said: 'Brad's passion for both the arts and the people behind them was unmatched. He lived his mission of keeping creativity alive, and his legacy will continue through Dream Loud Official.'
Former co-stars paid tribute on social media. Bryan Craig wrote: 'This is devastating. R.I.P. to a great guy that always had a smile on.' Parry Shen added: 'Brad Everett Young was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met.'
