Former Olympian Greg Rutherford has provided a health update following surgery for an injury sustained hours before the Dancing On Ice final. The 37-year-old shared images of his abdominal scar on Instagram, noting he is 'almost 4 weeks post op' and feeling much better.
Rutherford explained that he can now move with 'almost no feeling of pain' and the wound has healed. However, he admitted he still cannot tense his abs properly and has gained weight since the operation. He hinted at a return to skating, saying he will train to get 'trim again… maybe even back on skates.'
The athlete was forced to withdraw from the Dancing On Ice final on March 10 after tearing his abdominal muscles and suffering a hernia while rehearsing. He described the injury as 'effectively giving myself a C-section.' Surgery took place on March 21, and he is now recovering.
Fans have flooded his post with supportive messages, with one saying: 'Very glad that you're on the mend Greg.' Another added: 'Oh bless that looks painful, take care.'
