GMB star Katy Rickitt scatters dog Daphne's ashes

Good Morning Britain star Katy Rickitt has shared a heartfelt update with her followers after laying her cherished pet dog to rest.

A Heartfelt Farewell in Tatton Park

The ITV journalist, who has been a news correspondent on the flagship morning show since 2012, posted an emotional tribute on Sunday, January 4. She revealed that she and her husband, former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt, had scattered the ashes of their beloved dog, Daphne.

The couple were left devastated when Daphne passed away unexpectedly in December. In a moving Instagram post, Katy explained they chose Tatton Park in Cheshire as their "special place" for the farewell. She described it as the scene of their happiest family walks.

A Touching Tribute and Fan Support

Accompanying a video montage of memories, Katy wrote a poignant caption. "She now shares the same tree as Rufus, where she forms the bottom and he the branches," she said, referencing a previous pet. The journalist poetically added that the clouds formed a 'D' as they left, imagining Daphne as "Princess Daphne in the kingdom of wobble."

Fans and followers quickly flooded the comments with messages of comfort and sympathy. One person wrote, "Sending so much love your way Katy and Adam I'm deeply truly sorry." Another added, "Aww Katy and Adam I'm sure Princess Daphne and King Rufus are together running free."

Life Away from the Screen

Katy Rickitt and Adam Rickitt, who played Nick Tilsley on Coronation Street from 1997 to 2004, first met during a 2011 interview on GMB. They married in a December 2014 winter wonderland wedding.

Beyond their television careers, the couple are also business owners, running an artisan bottle shop named Dexter and Jones in Knutsford, Cheshire. Their shared love for their pets has often been a feature of their social media, making this loss particularly poignant for their supporters.
