Soap opera icon Tristan Rogers, best known for his legendary role as Robert Scorpio in General Hospital, has bravely revealed his recent prostate cancer diagnosis.
The 77-year-old actor shared the shocking news during an emotional appearance on The GH Fan Club podcast, explaining how a routine check-up led to the unexpected discovery.
A Wake-Up Call for Fans
"This came completely out of left field," Rogers confessed. "I had no symptoms whatsoever. If I hadn't gone for that regular check-up, who knows how long it might have gone undetected."
The Australian-born star emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare, particularly for men over 50. "Don't wait for symptoms," he urged. "That's the mistake so many of us make."
Treatment and Prognosis
Rogers remains optimistic about his treatment plan, which includes radiation therapy. Medical experts caught the cancer at an early stage, significantly improving his chances of full recovery.
"The doctors say we're dealing with this at the best possible time," he shared. "That's why I want to get this message out there - early detection saves lives."
A Storied Career
Fans worldwide know Rogers for his portrayal of the dashing spy Robert Scorpio, a role he originated in 1980 and has revisited numerous times over four decades. His character's romance with Holly Sutton (played by Emma Samms) remains one of daytime television's most beloved love stories.
The veteran actor continues to work in the entertainment industry, recently appearing in The Bay and various theatre productions.
Outpouring of Support
Following his announcement, social media has flooded with messages of support from co-stars and devoted fans. Many have praised Rogers for using his platform to raise awareness about men's health issues.
Rogers remains characteristically upbeat: "This isn't a death sentence - it's a wake-up call. And if sharing my story helps even one person get checked, then some good will have come from it."
