Beloved Gavin and Stacey stars Joanna Page and Mathew Horne have officially reunited to host an intimate new podcast series titled Table for Four. The iconic duo, who portrayed the titular characters in the smash-hit television series, are launching this weekly eight-episode production in collaboration with Good Food.
A Culinary Conversation Platform
The innovative format sees Page and Horne hosting intimate conversations with famous celebrity pairs while enjoying a delicious three-course meal prepared each week by Good Food's Senior Food Editor, Samuel Goldsmith. Listeners will not only hear these candid discussions but can also recreate the recipes at home.
Star-Studded Guest Lineup
Throughout the series, the hosts will welcome several high-profile duos including:
- Radio 1 co-hosts Matt Edmondson and Mollie King
- Close friends and music icons Gary Barlow and Olly Smith
- Comedian Russell Howard alongside Dan Atkinson
- Dame Arlene Phillips paired with Bradley Riches
The structured conversations follow the meal progression: during starters, guests discuss how they first met and initial impressions; over main courses, they delve into current projects; and while enjoying dessert, they reveal upcoming plans and future collaborations.
Behind-the-Scenes Revelations
Beyond interviewing their celebrity guests, Page and Horne will treat listeners to personal anecdotes from their own careers, offering rare insights into their professional journeys and the enduring friendship that began with Gavin and Stacey.
Joanna Page expressed her enthusiasm: 'Sitting around the dinner table with Mat and some of our favourite celebrities for a delicious meal and gorgeous conversation is an absolute dream. We can't wait for everyone to listen and join us around our Table for Four!'
Mathew Horne added: 'It is brilliant to be back working alongside Joanna as we get to chat with other iconic pairings about their shared adventures. It turns out tucking into a three-course meal is the perfect way to get the best stories out of your guests - including us!'
Gavin and Stacey Legacy
This podcast marks the first professional reunion for Page and Horne since their appearance in Gavin and Stacey's final episode on Christmas Day 2024. The special attracted an astonishing 20 million viewers, cementing the show's place in British television history.
The original series ran from 2007 to 2010 before returning for Christmas specials in 2019 and 2024. Creators James Corden and Ruth Jones initially considered adapting the story into a film but ultimately decided the characters belonged in living rooms rather than cinemas.
In a documentary following the emotional 2024 finale, James Corden explained the series' conclusion: 'Probably from the first Christmas special that we did, when Dave proposes and Smithy says, "Don't marry him", from that minute on it felt like they had to end together. And that's what he says in this last scene, "I know it's messy and not perfect, but that's because we're messy and not perfect".'
Table for Four represents a new chapter for the beloved acting pair, combining culinary delights with celebrity storytelling in what promises to be a uniquely engaging podcast experience for fans of entertainment and food alike.
