Emmerdale is reportedly set to lose another long-standing cast member. Jack Downham, who has portrayed Noah Dingle since the age of six, is said to be leaving the ITV soap after 17 years.
Jack Downham's Final Scenes Already Filmed
According to a report in The Sun, Downham has already filmed his final scenes and will depart on screen in the coming weeks. The actor becomes the latest member of the Dingle clan to be cut from the programme amid cost-saving measures at ITV.
A source told the publication: "Jack is looking at the positives though and is hopeful about future opportunities." The Daily Star has approached ITV for comment.
Noah Dingle's Storylines and Character History
Noah is the son of Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Chris Tate (Peter Amory) and has featured in numerous major storylines over the years. In total, Downham has appeared in more than 800 episodes of the programme.
Speaking to Inside Soap in 2021, Downham reflected on growing up on screen: "I've loved it. It's quite strange to be around adults all the time, but I think it's helped me mature in a lot of ways. On the other hand, I've missed out on my fair share of events and things with friends my own age, but it's all part and parcel of having such a great opportunity."
He added: "The constant drama is a great part of it. There's always something going on. Plus, everyone who plays a part in the Dingle family is so nice to work with. I've definitely learnt so much from Emma (Atkins) and she's always looked after me."
Other Recent Emmerdale Departures
Multiple cast members have left the soap in recent months, with Downham set to follow fellow Dingle family member Bradley Johnson, who portrays Vinny, in leaving. Other significant departures this year include Nick Miles, who played Jimmy King for 22 years, and Dawn Taylor actress Olivia Bromley.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX. The ITV show has a long-standing policy of not announcing most cast departures to avoid spoiling storyline outcomes.
