Echo & the Bunnymen lead singer Ian McCulloch was taken to hospital after a crash in the United States.

Incident Details

After performing in Washington DC on Friday, June 5, the lead singer was traveling to the next leg of the legendary Liverpool band's US tour in Philadelphia when he was involved in a crash that has left him requiring X-rays and scans.

In a statement posted by the band on social media this morning, they said: "While travelling from Washington, DC to Philadelphia, Ian McCulloch's vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident."

Medical Assessment

Left "shaken" by the incident, the singer received medical treatment and was taken to hospital to undergo further medical assessment including scans and X-rays.

Concert Postponed

Following the incident, the band confirmed that their planned gig at the Fillmore in Philadelphia, where they had been due to play yesterday, Sunday, June 7, was postponed.

The statement added: "Postponing a show is always a last resort. We never want to disappoint our fans, and we know many of you will have made plans to attend this evening's concert."

"We kindly ask ticket holders to retain their tickets while we work through the next steps. A further update regarding the show will be provided as soon as possible."

"We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused, and thank you for your understanding and support."

Band Background

Breaking through in the late 1970s, Echo & the Bunnymen became one of the biggest bands of the post-punk era. The band has retained an enduring appeal over the years, with their songs featuring in films like Donnie Darko (2001) and more recently in Stranger Things.

Some of their biggest hits include "The Killing Moon," "The Cutter," "Bring On the Dancing Horses," "Lips Like Sugar," and "Seven Seas."

Upcoming Tour Dates

With their US tour due to end on Friday, June 19 in Minneapolis, they are set to support My Chemical Romance at Anfield Stadium on Tuesday, June 30, before playing dates in London and Glasgow later in the year.
